Gloucestershire animal charity Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home has called on residents to help a senior cat who needs urgent medical treatment.
The black and white feline, named Percy, needs urgent dental surgery to treat his dental disease and alleviate his mouth pain, including a few dental extractions. Due to his senior status, comprehensive blood tests were essential to ensure it was safe for him to undergo anaesthesia.
In addition to his dental needs, Percy also has a mass on his left shoulder, suspected to be a cyst. To prevent having to go through another anaesthetic and help him feel more comfortable, the plan is for it to be removed during the same procedure.
Emily Bacon, an animal care assistant said: “Percy spends most of the day curled up in bed, but the moment you step into his pod, he comes out, eager for some attention.
“He loves his food so it would be amazing for him to have his teeth in tip top shape so he can enjoy lots of treats in his retirement years.
“As soon as you start fussing over him, he begins to purr, his eyes lighting up with happiness. He even tries to climb into your lap, longing for that extra bit of closeness. He’s such a sweet old boy with so much love to give.”
A CDCH spokesperson said: “Percy is a gentle, loving boy who deserves nothing less than the best possible care. However, complex dental procedures of this nature can come at great cost.”
Percy arrived at the rescue centre after the passing of his beloved owner. Percy was once well-cared for, but now the senior cat urgently needs your help to regain his health.
