GOLFERS at Forest Hills Golf Club turned out in force for a series of competitive events across the past week, with impressive individual and team performances on display.
Nearly 50 senior players took to the course on last week for the February Yellow Tee Stableford. Andy Ward led the way with a superb 40 points to claim victory in Division 1. Roger Hall secured second place with 38 points, while Dave Howard followed closely in third with 37.
Division 2 was a tight affair, with Paul Adams winning on countback after posting 34 points, edging out Bob Gibson. Terry Hook took third spot. In Division 3, Brian Evans emerged victorious with 39 points. Seniors Captain Clive Winward claimed second with 38, and Richard Demery came third.
Nearest-the-pin prizes went to Pete Chisholm on the 8th, Paul Adams on the 14th, and Richard Keeble on the 17th.
The Men’s Winter League saw 39 pairs compete in the Better Ball Pairs Stableford. A remarkable ten-under-par score of 46 points saw Ashley James and Eddy Annis take the win. They finished just one point ahead of runners-up Steve Jones and Josh Mathews. Steve Graham and Mark McGirr claimed third place, while Colin Grindle and Joe Liddington took fourth with 42 points.
Seven twos were recorded, with Lee Ayres, Gary Davies, Josh Mathews, Matt Yemm, Steve Graham, Simon Killen, and Scott Ayres all finding success on the par-threes.
The Seniors Bowmaker was split into two contests. In the four-man team competition, Glyn Earle, Terry Davies, Clive Winward, and debutant Simon Ruffley secured victory with 94 points.
The three-man competition was won by Kev Doyle, Phil Gwynne, and Bill Peffers, whose 97 points saw them finish well clear of Andy Shenton, Roger Hall, and John Auton, who scored 86.
