HARTPURY University FC put in a commanding performance to secure a 4-1 victory against Pershore Town on Bank Holiday Monday. Despite a strong start from Pershore, Hartpury’s clinical finishing proved decisive.
The match kicked off with Hartpury taking the lead with their first shot on goal. A well-worked move down the right saw the ball played inside to Tomas Shyamapant, who fired low into the far corner, giving Hartpury an early advantage. However, Pershore responded immediately, as Harlie Price finished from close range after good work from Jordan Jones and Donnelly on the left flank.
Hartpury regained control just before the break, with Billy Osborn finding the bottom corner after being given too much space to cut inside. They carried their 2-1 lead into halftime.
The second half saw Hartpury extend their advantage. A misplaced clearance from Pershore’s defence resulted in an unfortunate own goal, putting the visitors 3-1 up. Hartpury sealed the win late on, as a quick break ended with George Sims' cross deflecting off a defender into the net.
Hartpury now turn their focus to the Emirates FA Cup, where they face Nailsea & Tickenham Football Club this Saturday in a First Round Qualifying tie. It’s a historic occasion for Hartpury, marking their first appearance in this round of the FA Cup and their 150th game as a club.
