A RECENT discovery in the Forest of Dean has raised concerns after 24 large nitrous oxide canisters were found abandoned by the side of the road.

The canisters were located and safely removed by the Council's Street Warden Team, who also ensured proper disposal.

Nitrous oxide, a Class C drug, is illegal to possess, transfer, or sell in the UK. Those found with the substance could face up to two years in prison.

The misuse of nitrous oxide poses serious health risks, including oxygen deprivation and impaired driving, while the fly-tipping of canisters threatens the local environment, particularly in sensitive areas of the Forest.

Authorities are urging residents to report any suspicious activity related to the illegal use or disposal of nitrous oxide.
