A NEW natural flood management schemes in the Forest of Dean, funded by 2024 Green budget amendments, aim to reduce flood risks downstream while enhancing local ecosystems.

The plans will transform ditches into meandering streams, creating new habitats for wildlife and offering residents a chance to connect with nature.

Cllr Beki Hoyland, Green Party County Councillor for Blakeney and Bream Division, praised the projects, saying, “These schemes will protect communities and improve biodiversity, making the Forest of Dean a more vibrant and sustainable place to live.”

The initiative marks a significant development in flood risk management and ecological restoration, supporting both the protection of local infrastructure and the enhancement of the natural landscape in the region.
