TWO young Forest starlets had a surprise trip to Murrayfield as they represented England Under-18s against Scotland on Sunday.
Jack Bartlett of Lydney and JJ Tonks of Westbury-on-Severn both represented the Red Rose in their 64-0 win in Edinburgh, although the game was originally scheduled to be played at Stirling County.
However, due to the overnight snowfall the Scottish Rugby Union stepped in and allowed the game to go ahead at the Scottish national stadium behind closed doors, with only families allowed to watch.
The pair are both Gloucester Academy prospects, as Tonks started the match at flanker while Bartlett came off the bench as a replacement.
“The players were pretty excited when they found out they were playing at Murrayfield, it’s a big pitch and that suits the way we want to play," said England Under-18s head coach John Fletcher.
“This is a new group of players and they are a young squad. The majority of them will go on to the Six Nations festival in Wales and they played well.”
