JUST three years after taking up running, Bea Wright has completed an Ironman event.
Bea tackled the Tenby Ironman – which consisted of a 3.8km swim in the sea, a 180km bike ride (with over 2,000 metres of altitude difference throughout the course) and a full marathon.
"Three years ago my personal trainer said let's do a race so I tried a triathlon," said Bea, from Newent.
"When I decided it to do it my family thought I was mad, my friends thought it was cool. I've converted a few of them and my family still think I'm mad but are really proud of what I've achieved.
"My sister was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease so I'll be doing the next race for her and hoping to beat my time of 16hrs and 27 minutes."
Bea's efforts in Tenby raised money for Scope, a charity that supports disabled people and their families.
