Fifty Seniors took to the course on Thursday, in the June White Tee Medal at Forest Hills, and only two managed beat par, and only three more drew parity, writes Geoff Norris.

Division One was won by Gary Reddan, with his score of 78-8-70. Ashley Drew won Division Two with a two over par 74. The best score of the day was 96-30-66 recorded by Barry Klein which saw him win Division Three.

Of the 36 entered in the Saturday Stableford, only one player beat par, while five more managed parity.

Ken Ellway with 37 was the only player to beat par to win Division One. The winner of Division Two was Richard Beddington with 34 points.

Dan Maller took charge of the A Team on Saturday, as they entertained Painswick in the North Gloucestershire Foursomes League.

Paul ‘Styler’ Williams and Josh Goode went down 6 & 5, before Leigh Powell and Shane Moore shook hands on the 16, 3 & 2.

Phil Evans and Dan Reece recorded a half  but the tide turned in favour of the home team as, James Prior and Matt McGirr shook hands on the 12th, 7 & 6.

Kyran Martin and Dan Mason won a tight match 1 up for a final score of Forest Hills 3.25-2.5 Painswick.

Mark and Barry Klein lost 4 & 2, before Derek Freeman-Jones and Tony Laws, shook hands on the 16th 3 & 2 in the reverse fixture.

John and Dave Wilding were four down early in their match, finally winning 3 & 1.

Dave Cole and Steve Jones lost 5 & 4, Alan Edwards and Geoff then lost 3 & 2, and the rout was confirmed, as Dave Bennett and Kev Hardwick shook hands leaving the 13th, 6 & 5, to leave the final score of Painswick 5-1 Forest Hills.

Only 10 of the 71 players managed to record a score of par or better in the first round of the Committee Cup on Sunday. 

Countback was required to sort out the top three, with Mark Barnard finishing ahead of Phil Evans and Brandon Leach.

The Monday Seniors Yellow Tee Stableford, attracted 41 entries and only three players managed to beat par.

Over the week, despite almost 200 rounds being played, only 16 scores of par or better were recorded.

The best scores of the day, were registered by Keith Bell and Andy Shenton, with 38s, and Paul Williams with 37.

Andy Shelton’s 38 won Division One with countback needed in Division Two, Geoff Norris’ 34 beating John Humphries and Steve Keepax.

Keith Bell with his 38 points won Division Three.

Tracey Park were the visitors on Tuesday, and in the opener Captain Bridges and Martin Weller lost 4 & 3.

Bob Gibson and Roger Hall evened the scoreboard up, before Phil Gwynne and Mark Graham coasted to an emphatic 6 & 5 victory.

Paul Adams and ‘debutant’, Adrian Vines won 4 & 2 before Malcolm Green and Richard Demery scrapped their way, to a well deserved half. In the last match, Barry Klein and Alan Ayling recorded the most comprehensive win of the day, as they shook hands on the 14th, winning 6 & 4, to leave the final score of : Forest Hills 4.5-1.5 Tracey Park.
