HARTPURY University's journey in the Emirates FA Cup came to an end with a 2-0 defeat to Nailsea & Tickenham FC in a tightly contested match.
Hartpury started with a solid lineup, featuring Merrett anchoring the defence and Shyamapant leading the attack. The match began with an early chance in the 2nd minute when Towns fired a shot from the edge of the box, just missing the target.
Both teams then settled into the game, struggling to create clear opportunities as they sought to find their rhythm.
Nailsea had their first real opportunity in the 33rd minute with a corner, but Hartpury's goalkeeper, Smallwood, made an outstanding save to keep the game level.
Just before half-time, Hartpury nearly broke the deadlock when Shyamapant was played through on goal, only to see his shot hit the post and go out for a goal kick.
The second half saw Hartpury make an early substitution, with Towns being replaced by Kang. However, it was Nailsea who struck first, taking the lead in the 55th minute through a goal from Lucas Vowles.
In an attempt to find an equaliser, Hartpury made further substitutions, bringing on Prifti for Osborn and Machisa for Kent. The changes almost paid off in the 74th minute when Prifti found Shyamapant, whose cross for Manning was cleared for a corner by the Nailsea defence.
As the clock ticked down, Hartpury continued to push for a goal. In the 86th minute, Machisa delivered a pass to McGregor in the box, but the striker was unable to connect properly, sending his shot up in the sky and wide of the target.
With Hartpury pushing forward, Nailsea capitalised on the counter-attack in the 90th minute. A poorly executed corner from Hartpury led to a breakaway, and Connor Saunders finished the move to seal a 2-0 victory for the visitors.
