Letter to the Editor: Jeremy Hunt suggested you couldn’t raise a lot of money by taxing the small number of very rich people in the UK.
After extensive research, a quick look at the Sunday Times Rich list, I noted that the collective wealth of billionaires, in the UK, is between £600 and £700 billion.
Obviously, Jeremy didn’t have access to such detailed research.
A quick wealth tax of 10 per cent on all billionaires would, based on the above numbers, raise at least £60 billion.
This would pay off most of the UK’s bills.
This is almost exactly the amount their wealth went up last year.
Now I appreciate this will be hard for the billionaires, who will have to struggle along on savings of £900,000,000, this will be hard for them, poor petals.
So why isn’t Jeremy taxing the billionaires?
Nothing to do with his boss, I guess?
