Paulton Rovers 0
Cinderford Town 1
KEEPING things on an even keel is the priority for Town boss Steve Peters after this rare win at Paulton.
Town would probably have settled for a point when two minutes from time Dale Evans knocked in a probing free-kick to the back post.
Phillips pushed away Josh Egan's header, but Greg Lewis was in the right place at the right time to force the ball home.
Cinderford had to be on their mettle against a decent Paulton outfit.
They started promisingly, with Lewis Sommers, a handful all afternoon, heading just wide of the post and Nick McCootie also missing the target when well placed.
Rovers had chances too, with skipper Dan Cleverley generally pulling their strings.
In the second half Cinderford keeper Ben John made two outstanding saves to deny both Ben Lacey and Cleverley, while McCootie lobbed over an empty net after beating the onrushing Paulton keeper to the ball.
Injuries to Matt Smith and Matt Barnes were the only negatives for Town, but all of the subs played their part in a famous victory, particularly Josh Egan, on loan from Bath City.
"He's decent and we want to keep him for the foreseeable," said Peters.
Cinderford Town: Ben John, Ashley Malcolm, Greg Lewis, Andy Lewis, Danny Haines, Matt Barnes, Craig Tait, Dale Evans, Matt Smith, Nick McCootie, Lewis Sommers. Subs: Alex Harris, Nick Hancock, Josh Egan, MIke Whittington, Dean Lee.
