DEVELOPERS are 'gridlocking' Newent by building too many houses in the town, according to a local councillor. Newent Town Council has objected to plans for 85 houses on Ross Road because the development is outside the settlement boundary and the land is designated A1, for agricultural use. Coun Len Lawton said: " If you look at what is happening in and around Newent you've got 120 houses on Foley Road, 10 in Culver Street, 25 houses down Southend Lane and 30 on Watery Lane."
