Clifton 13

DAVE Bennett's 74th minute touchdown handed Lydney their fourth win out of five in a close encounter at Clifton.

Clifton are coached by former Bath and England player Mark Regan and have a number of players dually registered with Bath.

Bennett finished off a fine passing move to give his side some breathing space, although the conversion was missed.

Lydney dominated early on but Brett Turner could only convert one out of three kickable penalties.

Clifton seized the upper hand with a try from Roberts and a conversion and a penalty from Golledge.

Two minutes before half-time a powerful run from Lydney winger Josh Hannam saw him cross wide out for an unconverted effort to cut Clifton's lead to 10-8.

This was Josh's fourth try of the season.

The second period belonged to Lydney, but they were unable to turn their territorial advantage into points.

They regained the lead with two Turner penalties, but a Roberts penalty kept Clifton within touching distance until the final whistle.
