CHILDREN'S lives could be at risk in Newent due to unauthorised electrical work taking place at the recreation ground, according to town councillors.
Newent Rugby was given permission to install a temporary cabin to provide shelter for parents of the youth team while they train in cold and wet weather. However the town council say the work has been done without authorisation or the correct accreditation.
Deidre Morley, town clerk, said: "The council requires proof that electrical contractor is register with either the ECA, the NAPIT or the NICEIC enabling them to carry out any electrical work on Newent Town Council grounds or buildings."
