NEW data has revealed which areas in the UK are most popular for boat tours, with three South West areas ranked in the top 15. 

Research conducted by ferry travel experts GetByFerry gathered data from TripAdvisor to find the number of boat tours in each major UK city or town rated four stars or higher out of five, and then ranked accordingly.

South West areas ranked very well, placing Falmouth, Bristol and Plymouth in the top 15. Falmouth ranked second overall with 88.6% of boat tours receiving a score of four or higher, losing out on the top spot to Cambridge.

Falmouth offers more boat tours than any location with 39 in total. The abundance of boat tours stems from its prime location on the picturesque Cornish coast, where the town's natural harbour, the third largest in the world, offers sheltered waters ideal for boat trips.

Elsewhere in the South West, Bristol placed ninth with 75% of boat tours receiving a score of four or higher and Plymouth ranked 13th with 66.7%.
