A CAMPAIGN has been launched to complete the transformation of a former Cinderford bank into a centre for music making,
The renovation of the HSBC bank building in Market Street is a key project in Cinderford Town Council’s plans to regenerate the town as part of the government’s Levelling Up agenda.
Now The Music Works charity has launched a crowd-funder to help secure the final £15,000 to ensure the centre opens early next year.
The Music Works’ chief executive, Deborah Potts said: “We strongly believe that the Hub will transform our work in the Forest of Dean.
“Having engaged with thousands of young people at our Gloucester Hub, we have witnessed the profound impact it will have and the new aspirations it will raise for young people in the Forest.”
The funds raised through this campaign will be instrumental in the complete renovation of the old bank.
The Forest Community Music Hub will have it’s own event space, state-of-the-art recording studio, production suite, practice spaces, and even a sensory music room, all equipped with cutting edge music technology.
The aim is for the hub to engage 600 young people a year, helping them to develop their passion for music, their creative and performance skills, and support their career paths in whatever form they take.
Town council project manager Les Love said: “Cinderford Town Council are delighted to partner with The Music Works on this exciting venture.
“Whether it’s recording, producing, mixing, or working behind the scenes, The Music Works will offer advice, guidance, and a sense of direction to the young people in Forest of Dean.
“Together, we will create a platform to effect change and provide a voice to those who love music.”
Ms Potts added: “The Music Works would love the community to support this project and help bridge the final funding gap to make this Forest of Dean space a reality.
“If successful, the new venue could open its doors as early as January 2024.
“The crowdfunding campaign features a video outlining the hub plans, the ways it will benefit young people, and how individuals can contribute to the fundraising campaign while gaining access to exciting rewards, such as recording sessions in the new studio, access to the Music Bus, and exclusive entry to The Music Works events..
“The Music Works was founded in the Forest of Dean back in 2004 and are now excited to come back to their roots to help give young people in the Forest an amazing space that will give them things to do, make new friends and feel proud of the place that they live.”
