t may have had a stay of execution but - Lydney Town Hall has not yet been released from 'Death Row'.
The Hall's Trustee Management Committee recently revealed that it is facing a financial melt-down unless £5,000 can be found to keep the business afloat.
But after a committee meeting on Monday night, chairman Colin Knight said he is confident that a rescue package will be successfully negotiated over the next two weeks.
In the meantime he says the committee will be working to hammer out a completely new strategy to ensure the hall's long term survival.
He said: "Last week we were in total crisis – this week we're just in crisis.
"We have been approached by one or two businessmen and provided we can convince them the hall is viable if run as a volunteer organisation they will be willing to invest in us."
