LYDNEY Town Council chief executive Jayne Smailes is understood to have resigned, say sources close to the authority.
Mrs Smailes had been on sick leave, believed to be with stress, from the authority for the past fortnight.
She had brought a grievance complaint against three councillors which was heard in July and was at the centre of controversy when she criticised Cllr Harry Ives over his handling of the Bathurst Park ’Party In The Park’ also in July.
Cllr Ives, who continues to serve on the Forest of Dean District Council for the Lydney North ward, resigned from the town authority.
The town council Mayor Brian Pearman also resigned a fortnight ago from the authority.
Lydney Town Council are holding a second extraordinary full council meeting on Monday were it is expected the whole affairs surrounding the sorry few weeks for the authority will be aired in public.
