DEAN Academy head David Gaston believes Lydney residents should have the option of sending their children to a local sixth form.
Mr Gaston said: "I think Lydney should have a sixth form.
"It seems to me we are sending 200 or so students all over the place.
"A number of students go to the Gloucester Grammar School sixth form, and a lot go to Wyedean School and the Forest of Dean College.
"I'm sure all these places provide a good education, but it should at least be an option that our children are given the opportunity to go to a local sixth form.
