A RESPECTED local author and former Anglican vicar has released his new book, The Three Godparents and Other Stories.
Geoffrey Crees, who has dedicated several decades to his ministry, offers readers a blend of personal reflection and storytelling.
Mr Crees' path to authorship began with his conversion to Christianity during his service in the Army, followed by his ordination in the Church of England. After many years of pastoral work, he transitioned to writing and now lives with his second wife, Jean, in Lydney.
The Three Godparents and Other Stories delves into Mr Crees' childhood experiences, growing up as an only child in a semi-rural community. The book captures the charm of his early years, including his early lessons in milking cows and the profound impact of wartime memories. It also vividly recounts the close-knit nature of his family and neighbourhood.
A significant focus of the book is the role of godparents in the context of infant baptism. Mr Crees explores the responsibilities of godparents and the promises made at the baptismal font, offering insights into the longstanding debate surrounding this practice. He reflects on how these themes influenced his own life and the community around him.
The Three Godparents and Other Stories is now available for purchase at local bookstores and online platforms.
