COMMUNITY bus service, the Daffodil Line, is bringing back the ‘Kids Go Free’ initiative offering free travel for all passengers aged 16 and under throughout August.

Last year, the scheme saw the number of young travellers triple during the month of August, prompting operator Buses4Us to bring back the initiative this summer.

The programme aims to provide young people with a sense of independence and freedom.

The bus service operates seven days a week and serves to connect Ross, Newent and Ledbury with the surrounding villages and countryside.

The scheme also allows parents or grandparents to take the whole family on a bus trip without worrying about the cost for children.

Due to the service’s ‘request stop’ approach, the buses stop anywhere passengers wish to disembark, providing it is safe to do so, even if there is no official bus stop at the location.

Young families and older children can use the daffodil line for affordable and accessible travel across the region, allowing for activities such as picnicking by the river in Ross or walking around the lake in Newent to be enjoyed during the school holidays.

The promotion will run throughout August on all the daffodil line services. Young people aged 16 and under can travel for free independently or with an adult.
