THE first images of how Cinderford’s new supersurgery in Valley Road will look were releases this week.

The new Cinderford Medical Centre will replace the existing unit adjoining the Co-op car park and will house both the Dockham Road and Forest Health Care surgeries.

The existing health centre building is now too small to cope with its 14,000 patients and it is anticipated that this number to rise significantly over the next ten years.

The developers, Assura, have already applied for planning permission from Forest of Dean District Council.

The application plans reveals that the 1,477 sq metre building will consist of a central entrance lobby where each practice will have its own reception area.

The surgeries themselves will each have its own independent ‘wing’, one on each side of the reception area.

Director of Primary Care at NHS Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, Helen Goodey, said: “The business case for a new super surgery was approved in January 2018 and fully supports the planning application.

“The new health centre will be a modern, purpose-built facility that will enable doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to offer a broader range of services to patients than the existing, outdated and cramped facilities can support."
