DENTAL patients at Newent’s Market Square surgery, run by Dr Mahdi Mirgati, were shocked by its sudden and mysterious closure last Wednesday.

One patient, who asked not to be named, said: “I went there for treatment on the Tuesday and the next day I received a letter in the post saying they were closed.

“There was no explanation on Tuesday that they were about to close.

I am just worried about where my dental records are.

“The surgery is closed and there is no answer to the telephone.”

The dental surgery was not part of the National Health Service.

A spokesman at the town’s other dental practice, Newent Dental Care, said: “The first thing we knew about it was when their patients starting coming through our door on Thursday.

“If any patients from that practice have any problems they are more than welcome to come to us.”

Dr Mirgati is also listed as having a surgery in Cheltenham, but a spokesman there said he had not been associated with the practice since 2012.
