ONE Gloucestershire Integrated Care System’s Respiratory Clinical Programme Group won the Integrated Care Initiative of the Year category at Friday’s Health Service Journal Awards 2024 (November 22).

Judges praised the teams’ innovative approach, their dedication to an active community programme, and how the team met the needs of Gloucestershire’s population.

The team is made up of consultants, GPs, nurses, therapists and a range of supporting colleagues, as well as patients with lived experience. It is focused on supporting those with respiratory conditions like chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and asthma. It also looks to help patients manage their health and reduce the number of smokers in Gloucestershire.

Dr Graham Mennie, GP and clinical lead for respiratory care said: “This award recognises the hard work and passion of our team and the benefits of joint working. It is a win for the whole team – including our colleagues from across health, social care, education and further afield.

“Working together as a system isn’t something new, we’ve been doing this for more than a decade, and we know it is the best approach for people in Gloucestershire living with respiratory conditions.”
