GLOUCESTERSHIRE County Council (GCC) has issued some helpful safety tips for this weekend (July 19) as temperatures set to rise.
Taking to their X page, GCC said: “It's due to be hot these next few days - make sure to stay well in the heat. Drink plenty of fluids, dress appropriately (wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses) and stay in the shade where possible. Limit strenuous activity during hot weather”.
The safety reminder follows the MET Office report of temperature highs of 27 degrees celsius and lows of 17.
The MET Office reported Friday will be: “Very warm and dry day for most with plentiful amounts of sunshine and very high UV levels. Cooler in the west with more cloud; turning murky along Cornish coasts later. Maximum temperature 27 °C.”
Warmer weather can also affect drivers. The AA says: “In warmer weather, you're more likely to encounter cyclists and pedestrians out and about on the roads. It’s important to be aware of your surroundings while driving and The Highway Code has clear rules and guidelines to ensure all road users are protected.
Driving at a safe speed and removing any distractions while driving will help you be aware of your surroundings. This also means you’ll be able to react in time should you encounter vulnerable road users.”
More advice on how to handle the warmer temperatures across the county can be found on the MET office website.
