FORMER Forester editor Viv Hargreaves has been appointed by Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire Dame Janet Trotter as one of her five new deputies.

Mrs Hargreaves, who left her position as editor at The Forester in 2013, said she felt extremely honoured.

“Having lived, worked and brought up my family in the Forest of Dean over the past 40 years, I am sure this beautiful area will come into my sphere of duties,” she said.

“And I am delighted that fellow Forester Roger Deeks has been appointed - along with fellow newsman Mark Hurrell.

“Anything that can enhance the diverse, innovative, cultural and industrial facets of our great county will be at the forefront of my mind in this new role.

“I feel extremely honoured and privileged to have been chosen as one of Dame Janet Trotter’s five new deputy lieutenants.

“And I am very much looking forward to serving the county in any way I can.”
