A MAJOR trunk road in Herefordshire close to Ross-on-Wye was blocked for more than 12 hours today due to a tree having fallen across the carriageway.
The A49 was closed in both directions between the A40 Wilton roundabout in Ross and the B4521 at St Owens Cross, the turning for Abergavenny.
A West Mercia Police spokesman said that officers had been called to incident near Peterstow at around 3.50am this morning (July 24) following a collision, the force of which caused the tree to fall across the road.
Crews from National Highways were requested to attend the scene to clear the tree from the carriageway.
