A LOCALLY-based bus operator is creating an early morning service to offset ongoing roadwork issues.

From this Friday, June 14 will see a timetable update for the 232 Daffodil Line bus service, with an earlier morning departure from Ledbury to Newent.

The service will depart Ledbury Station at 7.20am, allowing extra time for the run to Newent and enabling a more punctual arrival at school for students, even if the service encounters roadworks during the journey.

Most passengers will see no change to their journey times, but for student passengers, it’s an important improvement.

“We are constantly monitoring the service and customer feedback,” said Buses4Us Chair Clare Stone.

“It had become apparent that roadworks combined with morning rush hour traffic was sometimes making our student passengers late for school.

“As roadworks somewhere along the route seem destined to be pretty much an everyday occurrence we took the decision, in conjunction with our operator DRM Bus, to amend the timetable.

“We hope that this will enable a prompt 8am departure from Newent and punctual arrival at John Masefield High School in Ledbury for the start of the school day.

“Our student passengers are a very important part of the service, they are one of the main reasons the Daffodil Line was established, so it's vital we get things right for them.”
