A HIGHNAM man who drove while over the alcohol limit at Gorsley has been given a 14-month driving ban.
Marcus McEvoy, aged 45 and of The Range, Highnam, admitted at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court driving a BMW on the B4221 on November 21 with 61 micrograms of alcohol in his breath.
The legal limit for driving is 35 micrograms.
He was fined £600 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £60.
The magistrates told McEvoy he can reduce the length of the disqualification by 14 weeks if he takes a government-approved driving course by September 10 at his own expense.
He was given until January 13 to pay the total financial penalty of £745.
