A MOTORIST had a lucky escape on the M50 at Newent last weekend after crashing their car into a tree.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the eastbound carriageway at Junction 3 of the M50 near Gorsley at around 2.35pm on Saturday.
Highways crews and police officers closed the junction while they dealt with the incident, which caused long delays as traffic built up in both directions.
The fire service was also in attendance at the scene, but was ultimately not needed as the driver had been safely removed from the vehicle by the time it arrived.
The driver, a female, was treated at the scene by West Midlands Ambulance Service before being taken to Hereford County Hospital. It is not believed that the woman sustained any serious injuries in the collision.
Closures remained in place while police remained at the scene to wait for the vehicle’s recovery.
