LYDNEY Boxing Club is celebrating another national finalist.
Cameron Thomas (pictured) has reached the final of the National Schoolboys' Championship, which will be held in Manchester on either March 5 or 6.
Cameron, 13, won through to the final by defeating Elliot Whale (Nemesis Boxing Club, Kent) at the Heath End School in Farnham.
Whale was a very awkward southpaw opponent for Cameron. The Lydney fighter (40 kilo division) found himself 6-3 down after the first round, but changed tactics for the second round, going on the attack. He won 10-8, then took the third round convincingly by 16-11.
Cameron's coach Bryan Higgs said: "We're delighted to be in another final, but it's going to be very tough. Cameron is a very talented boxer, but he'll be up against an extremely good opponent in David Robson from the Birtley Boxing Club (County Durham) who has won all 16 of his fights."
