HOMEOWNERS, landowners, and developers are being called upon to suggest sites for potential housing and employment as part of housing initiaitive.

This scheme is part of the Forest of Dean District Council's annual Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment.

Cllr Adrian Birch, leader of the council, highlighted the significance of the process: “If you have land that you believe could potentially be developed in the future, either for housing or business purposes, this is your chance to submit it for consideration as part of the land availability assessment.”

He added: “By submitting your site for potential development, it does not necessarily mean that development will happen, but it is an important first step that puts it in front of the right people for consideration.”

“This process gives us a real opportunity to think differently to achieve the sustainable development we need in the district. Working together with landowners, we can aim for development that benefits and complements Forest of Dean communities and businesses.”

The assessment, required by the UK Government, will help identify suitable areas for all types of housing, including for travellers and travelling show people, as well as employment across the district.

All proposed sites will undergo a thorough assessment to determine whether they could be developed in line with planning policy. However, it is important to note that the assessment does not guarantee that any site will be allocated for future housing or employment.

Those wishing to put forward potential sites can complete an online form, send an email, or submit their suggestions by post.

Anyone who has already submitted a site need not resubmit unless they wish to make changes or remove their site from the study, as previous submissions will be carried forward into the current review.

All sites submitted will be retained in a long-term database used to inform the district’s Local Plan.
