After 135 years, cricket at Yorkley's Cut and Fry Green has been stopped – not by poor light or rain but by wild boar.
The foraging beasts have dug up a large tract of the cricket ground rendering it virtually unplayable until extensive repairs have been carried out.
Alec Kear, a trustee of the Yorkley Star Cricket Club, which plays on the green, says the boar have ruined the club's 2015 season.
"Cricket has been played on Cut and Fry Green at Yorkley since 1880 but after last Friday night this can longer happen after the damage caused by the boar," he said.
