CINDERFORD’S Dilke Memorial Hospital’s annual summer fete will go ahead as normal this year in spite of the ravages of wild boar attacks on the lawns.
About a quarter of the hospital lawn where the fete is held was destroyed by boar in October last year.
However, a protective perimeter fence which was installed in November, has meant the lawns are almost back to normal.
So the clinical calm of Cinderford’s Dilke Memorial Hospital will once more be transformed into a day of family fun on Saturday, June 11.
The grounds will once again be packed with the usual stalls, music from Berry Hill Band, country dancing from Steam Mills Primary School and circus skills from Artspace.
Organised by the hospital’s League of Friends, the fete raises money to pay for extra equipment and creature comforts for patents.
Friends’ Treasurer Sue Young said: “We are always well supported at the fete and we are very grateful for it.
“The money we raise goes towards buying things for the benefit of the patients, and of course the staff. We provide newspapers, special chairs, special equipment the NHS cannot pay for and televisions in all the wards.”
