A BROADWELL woman battered Gerry Nott to death at his home in October last year while she continued drinking with her friends, a court heard this week.

Amanda Louise Howard, 46, from Edinburgh Place heard that the pair had been drinking with friends at his home in the Queensway, Broadwell, on October 25, when she allegedly punched the grandfather, an alcoholic, a number of times on the head before kicking him to the floor to continue the beating.

Mr Nott, a retired landscape gardener, never recovered from this battering. Bristol Crown Court heard that he had suffered internal bleeding in his head and was dying without anybody around him knowing he needed medical attention.

Rosaleen Collins, prosecuting, explained to the jury that a few days before the alleged attack Howard was heard shouting at Mr Nott "I'll kill you".

The trial continues.
