SHEEP badgers in the Forest of Dean could face a financial levy to cover the cost of clearing village streets of their animals’ droppings.
Coun Richard Leppington has tabled a motion to that effect for tomorrow’s full meeting of Forest of Dean District Council.
The move follows representations by West Dean Parish Council demanding action over the spate of sheep fouling in the area.
In response the district council has already ordered a full scrutiny investigation into complaints about sheep-related issues in the West Dean Parish area.
The newly formed scrutiny task group will meet Mick Holder, chairman of the Commoners’ Association and other members on Monday.
Mr Holder said: “I would prefer to wait until after this meeting before making any comment.”
