POLICE are urging residents to stay vigilant after a man armed with a knife stole hundreds of pounds from the post office in Westbury-on-Severn.
Gloucestershire Police were called after the offender entered the premises with what is believed to be a knife and demanded the cashier, a woman, to open the till at around 1.30pm today (February 5).
A police spokesperson said: "The cashier opened the till and hundreds of pounds were stolen. The offender then left. The cashier was not physically harmed but has been left very shaken by the incident.
The man is described as a white man, 5 foot 8, wearing a woollen grey hooded top.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace him.
Anyone who sees a man of this description is urged not to approach him but to call police on 101 quoting incident 231 of February 5.
