THE FOREST of Dean Armed Forces Support Network has taken further steps to support the local military community by conducting a vital fact-finding visit to The Rifles regiment at Beachley Barracks.

As part of its ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant, the Network sent a Community Builder to the barracks to meet with serving personnel and their families.

The visit centred around a survey designed to identify the specific needs, challenges, and concerns of those currently stationed at the site.

The data collected will be used to tailor support services to better reflect the lived experiences of the Armed Forces community in and around the Forest of Dean.

The aim is not only to highlight the areas where support is lacking but also to strengthen the links between military families and the range of local charities and organisations able to assist them.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to improve integration, reduce isolation, and ensure that service families are fully aware of and able to access the support available to them, whether that's related to housing, mental health, education, employment, or family welfare.

A spokesperson for the Forest of Dean Armed Forces Support Network said: “Visits like these are essential in helping us understand what our service personnel and their families need most. We’re committed to turning that insight into action by connecting them with the right resources through our network of local partners.”

The Network's work continues to demonstrate the district’s commitment to those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, as well as their loved ones.

By taking a proactive approach to listening and responding to the community, the organisation is helping ensure that no one is left behind once they return from active duty or move into the area.
